4 improvements that I could make upon this website are;

the first improvement that i would make would to to add a genre button so that the person who is viewing the website can see what range of genres that the site has, such as comedies and horrors. This will be a good improvement as people will now be searching for groups of films if they don't know what specific film they want to view.

the second improvement i would make to my website would be adding a link that pops up saying what films the student has already watched, this will help them remember what films they have and haven't watched. This will be a good way to improve my site as people will spend less time going through films they have already seen and then they can get onto newer films quicker.

the third improvement i would make would be to change the background for each season, such as winter would be a cold blue colour and this would be a little thing which will be a nice way to keep the site looking new and fresh. this would be a good improvement to my website such as if people keep seeing the same colour background they may get bored of it, so this may be something new to spice up the page!

the fourth improvement i would make would be to make my logo more modern, such as it seems to be quite old looking so if i make it look more cool and modern people will think it is a modern website and will not have boring films on it. this would be a good improvement to my website as it would then catch the users attention if the logo looks good and unique.

Navigation- when i was creating my website i had to make sure that the navigation on the site was easy to understand, i achieved this by creating a navigation bar along the top of my website with clear text to show you what button would link to what page such as i had hyper linked them.

HTML- i had to use HTML forms when creating my website such as i had to use this to add you tube videos into my website and i also had to embed the Paypal button which was done by HTML coding, this is basically used by anything on the web.

audio and visual elements- i have 11 trailers on my website and this all have both audio and video elements on them, i had embedded them into my site using single codes for each video, so users of the page could click on the video they wanted to watch and only watch that single trailer.

Hierarchy- this tool separates parts of the page in order of importance, this can be done through size, colour, shape or font.
On my site i have a picture of a old fashioned camera and next too it i have ' Kingswood School Film Club' which will both be seen straight away as these are the biggest things on my website, under this is my navigation bar with all of the pages listed. this will then show you the difference in importance and functionality.

TCP/IP protocols map to a four layer conceptual model. The four layers of the model are: Application, Transport, Internet and Network Interface. Each layer in the model corresponds to one or more layers of the seven layer Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model; (application layer, presentation layer, session layer, transport layer, network layer, data-link layer and physical layer).

Internet Layer- The Internet layers are responsible for addressing, packaging and routing functions. The core protocols of the Internet layer are IP, ARP, ICMP and IGMP.

The Internet Protocol (IP)- this is a routable protocol responsible for IP addressing, routing and the fragmentation and reassembly of packets.

The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)- this is responsible for the resolution of the Internet layer address to the Network Interface layer address such as a hardware address.

The Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) - this is responsible for providing diagnostic functions and reporting errors due to the unsuccessful delivery of IP packets.

The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) - this is responsible for the management of IP multicast groups.

Transport Layer - The Transport layer is responsible for providing the Application layer with session and datagram communication services. The core protocols of the Transport layer are Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

TCP provides a one-to-one, connection-oriented, reliable communcations service. TCP is responsible for the establishment of a TCP connection, the sequencing and acknowledgment of packets sent, and the recovery of packets lost during transmission.

UDP provides a one-to-one or one-to-many, connectionless, unreliable communications service. UDP is used when the amount of data to be transferred is small (such as the data that would fit into a single packet), when the overhead of establishing a TCP connection is not desired or when the applications or upper layer protocols provide reliable delivery.

Application Layer- The Application layer provides applications the ability to access the services of the other layers and defines the protocols that applications use to exchange data. There are many Application layer protocols and new protocols are always being developed. The most widely-known Application layer protocols are those used for the exchange of user information:

The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

this is used to transfer files that make up the Web pages of the World Wide Web.

The File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

this is used to the interactive file transfer.

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMPT)

this is used for the transfer of mail messages and attachments.

Data protection act

the data protection act is an act which is enforced to help keep peoples personal data safe when they give their details to a company / service. It makes sure that the people who have information keep it to themselves and do not abuse the act as they will be prosecuted under this act.

Security Risks

Hacking - Hacking is basically entering something you shouldn't, this could be something from guessing someones Facebook password to hacking into the whole of Facebook. Hacking would be used for many things, such as finding out information on somebody's profile, or trying to delete data off of a website so people will not know what it is about. Hacking involves re-programming a system so it will do things which the site wasn't first authorized to do.

Identity Theft - Identity theft is basically stealing another persons personal information such as bank details or their name and address, this could retrieved from websites which people may have entered their information into and not checked that it is a secure website. this would be used on websites to try and get people into trouble or maybe even use their bank details to buy products off the victims bank card.

Viruses - Viruses are programs specially made to steal and corrupt data on websites from a website or even a computer system. They are normally downloaded from the internet as you may have clicked a link that you wasn't legit or safe and this is where people can then give your computer system a virus and it may force it to not work. A virus will effect everybody that clicks on it in the same way, such as if it will effect everyone that comes in touch with it who uses the website, not just the host of the website.

Security Protection Mechanisms:

Firewalls - the firewall is made to stop things which aren't allowed to access the system, such as virus', it will decide if the file entering the system is allowed due to the network transmissions based on set rules. Software firewalls are already built into the computing system, such as windows firewall, which is built into all windows systems to prevent files which are not welcome to getting into the software. Hardware firewalls are devices which could be connected to the router to prevent bad virus' from entering via the internet.

Passwords - Passwords are things that prevent access to something private, such as your own Facebook space, you will be the only person who knows the password and this should be private as it is personal. the stronger the password the less likely you will be hacked, such as is you have a simple password like your own name for example, people would find this easier to guess. Your password will be harder to guess if you include numbers and capital letters; thus making it harder to get correct.

SSL - SSL ( secure socket layer) helps provides communication over the web. websites which have SSL will have a certificate to show that they are secure and this will be more appealing for people to use as they will know that it is a safe site to use. it is the encryption of the data of network connections above the transport later and a lower sub-layer of its application layer using a keyed message authentication code message integrity.

web 2.0-

A Web 2.0 site will allow users  of the site to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user-generated content in a virtual community. In addition to websites where people are limited to the passive viewing of content. Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services and web applications, these would be sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

Blogs-
Blogs (short for web-log) could be anything from a webpage for a school account for posting work onto, or even just your thoughts on something which you then posted on the internet. Mostly blogs are based on an particular subject and this way people can communicate using these such as if somebody were to post a blog about cycling, users could comment on the blog to get their view across and then this could start a debate on the matter. As a result of this i believe blogs are a good way to communicate using the internet.

Online Applications-
Online applications applications are things such as PowerPoint, word or excel. Online applications have the functionality and data on a server which is accessed over the internet so you may only need an internet connection and a web browser to utilise them.  they don't need anything on your computer to download them such as they are fully hosted tools. changes on these tools are easy to do and not very pricey.

Cloud Computing-
Cloud computing is the use of computing resources (hardware and software) that are delivered as a service over a network (usually the Internet). The name comes from the common use of a cloud-shaped symbol as an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it contains in system diagrams. Cloud computing entrusts remote services with a user's data, software and computation. An example of this would be an App on your phone, such as Facebook or Twitter, which you can use at anytime anywhere as long as you have a connection to the internet.

download speed- download speed is important because if the download speed is slow this will be effecting the rate that i can edit my website as i may need to download certain software to help me with the creation of my website.

PC performance factors- the PC performance factors will be important when i am creating a website such as if the browser doesn't support the webpage that i have created i will need to re download a new browser which may take more time that i should be spending on the webpage. the memory of the PC may not be to the capacity of what i am looking for, e.g. i may have a lot of images and videos i want to put onto the website and the computer may not have enough memory to support this. if the processor speed is slow this will slow down my work and will then take longer for my to make my webpage such as i will need to make sure that the processor is at a good speed so this will not slow down the creation of my work.

Web server capacity- if the web server that i am using doesn't have the right capacity i will need to try to find a new server which can support the capacity that i need to run my website, such as if i have lots of videos and the server doesn't support may videos i will need to find a server which does support videos.

Hits- another factor that i will have to take into consideration will be the number of hits i can have on my page, such as some websites cant attain lots of users at once so my webpage should be flexible to this incase i have a big wave of users at one time.

file types- the file type that i will be using will be JPEG or bitmap, as these two will be the most supported for my page as the camera i use uploads them as these images so this will then be more time efficient for me. when i upload videos i will upload them in a MP3 or MP4 format as these are both high quality video types which can be used in HQ or standard view.

P6 evaluation

Darrell’s virtual tour is fit for purpose as it shows you information about the department which people will want to know about, as he has information on the subject and what kind of work that it entails. He also has a media gallery with images from the department which is also fit for purpose as people who will look at this will want to know what the department looks like.

The media elements are appropriate as there are pictures on most slides and each of these pictures are different ones to show different parts of the department, he also has a gallery with many media images of the department which also supports my point that the media elements are appropriate.

The project is fairly professional such as it all works successfully and it is up to a good standard, as everything you click takes you to the correct places and they do it straight away.

5 things he could improve-

Change logo to make it look more to do with media.
Add more images to the gallery
Add pictures of the teachers next to the names of them.
Show more courses / units when describing the type of work that the subject involves.
Make all of the text the same so it looks more professional.

There will be no copyright on the images I used in my project as I have taken all of the pictures myself so this means nobody can copyright these images apart from myself. I have avoided any possible plagiarism as I have been creating all of the work and images by myself so this will show that I have not copied anyone during the creating of my tour. I will not need any permission to use the images as I have taken them myself, they do not include any students or staff of the school therefore I will not need anyone’s permission for them to be in the images.
